José Rojas: joven ingeniero de Talca en Forbes 30 Under 30 por liderazgo en videojuegos
Jose Rojas, an engineer in Video Game Development and Virtual Reality from the University of Talca, has been included in the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 list, Chilean edition. This list recognizes young leaders with a high impact in their fields. The recognition is due to his work as the founder of Time Hunters Studio, a national company. In 2022, Time Hunters signed a contract with Nintendo, allowing them to develop video games for the Japanese giant.
“It was quite unexpected, at first a bit surreal. I am very happy that other people notice the effort I put into the work I do,” Rojas expressed after receiving the distinction. He added that the recognition came after years of effort: “I had to build Time Hunters from scratch. I have taken step by step, and I think that was also recognized.”
The company, created from Talca, currently collaborates with clients from Japan, Europe, and the United States. One of their upcoming challenges will be their participation in the Tokyo Game Show, an international event to be held in September. Although he could not reveal details, Rojas hinted that they are close to closing new strategic agreements.
From his experience, he criticized the low level of national investment in this industry. “National investment in video games is difficult. I hope this motivates Chilean investors. This industry generates more than double that of music and film combined,” he emphasized.
At just 27 years old, the professional has become a reference for students in his career at UTalca. The school's director, Camila Aliaga, valued his impact: “It is a pride to have this type of graduates. They can demonstrate the potential of this training to advance in a technological and creative discipline.”
On his part, teacher Felipe Besoaín, who was Rojas' professor, highlighted his perseverance: “He is characterized by taking an idea and constantly improving it. When someone works consistently, they always go far.”
Rojas himself emphasized the importance of academic training and self-learning. “The career provides good foundations, but self-learning is key. At first, I was not a good student; programming was very difficult for me. I had to work three times as hard as others, and that led me here. Effort surpasses talent a thousand times over,” he concluded.
The case of José Rojas represents a concrete example of how the combination of academic education, innovation, and perseverance can open doors in highly competitive industries globally. His inclusion in Forbes 30 Under 30 not only positions Time Hunters Studio as an emerging player in game development but also projects the <Maule Region strong > and the University of Talca as talent incubators capable of transcending borders. In a context where creative economy is becoming increasingly relevant, stories like this invite us to believe in the potential of young Chileans and the need to invest in local technological development.
